Albena Denkova, Maxim Staviiski

The world ice dancing champions Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviyski will be back to the ice for another season, local media reported on Thursday.

"In the past two months there has been a difference in our opinions as to whether we should continue our career. However, a lot of people are supporting us - from those at the highest state level to ordinary people, and I think we owe this to them. We will fight for the European title, which is missing from our collection," Denkova said.

"Our goal is to prepare a nice performance, otherwise there is a high degree of subjectivity in this sport and nobody can tell what will happen in advance. Anyway, we will fight for more medals," Denkova added.

"We have the strength and desire to continue to compete for another season," Staviyski said in his typical manner.

At the end of this week or early next week at the latest, the couple is leaving for the United States to start training for the new season.

Denkova and Staviyski will work with their trainers but will look for a new choreographer.
