Glenn Hughes - one of the most renowned voices of rock

Bulgarian fans of the old-time rock sound partied Monday night with Deep Purple legend Glenn Hughes, backed by local stars.

The warm-up for the show was entrusted to Bulgaria's landmark Signal and BTR, as well as the Hipodil band.

According to reports, 10,000 had gathered at seaside Kavarna's Kaliakra Stadium to enjoy the deafening gig.

It was not only a holiday to the audience, but also to Hughes himself, as "the voice of rock" was celebrating his 55th birthday that night.

Kavarna's mayor Tsonko Tsonev surprised him with an original guitar-shaped cake on the occasion, and in return received from the rock legend a Deep Purple platinum album, one of only fifty copies made.
